Quite often we get asked,: “What does your church have for youth?” This is a fundamental question that many parents ask long before they decide if their kids will visit. At Living Faith our youth (middle & high school) experience safe, age-appropriate environments where they learn about Jesus in a creative and relevant way..
Our Youth Ministry exists to prepare students to follow Jesus into every area of life. We do this by tailoring the overall vision and discipleship process of Living Faith to fit Middle & High School students.
What will my first visit look like?
Handing your kids off to be cared for by strangers can be a terrifying prospect for parents. Here's what to expect when visiting youth ministry for the first time: first, when you come in there is a check in station where we will meet your kids, check them into our system, and then one of our students or volunteers will lead them on a quick tour. Upon checking in for the first time, we will ask for the following personal information (NOTE: We value your privacy and will not share this information with anyone): parent/guardian name(s), child's name, child's birthdate, home address, phone number, and any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for your children.
We set aside time on the 1st Friday each month for a youth gathering called 7:10. (The name is the time: 7-10pm.) This is for middle and high school students. We recommend a $1 donation for this event to help cover the cost of the food.
These are “Jesus 101” nights. Each 7:10 we have a student share their God story, and we encourage all students to attend and invite their friends too.
We desire these nights to be a place where bands can come and play, students share their testimonies, and to create a top 5 hang out place for teenagers in the Vineland/Millville area.
Both Middle School and High School groups meet on Wednesday. Middle School & High School both meet from 7-8:30pm. We leave the doors open until 9pm so students and leaders can hang out and talk further.
High School consists of 9-12th grade. Middle school consists of 7th & 8th grade (Sept - Jan) and 6-8th grade (Jan-Aug).
Middle School is unique in that we only allow 6th graders to join stating in January rather than at the beginning of the school year. This really serves students in making sure this important spiritual transition doesn't get lost in all the transitions they have to make in moving from Elementary to Middle School.
Youth Bible Study
"Come join other middle and high school students in studying the word of God together in peer led discussion, all while growing in your leadership capabilities. We meet bi-weekly alternating a guys and girls Bible study (girls one week guys the next) at 1-2pm in the basement of LFA."
You don't have to be a grown up to play songs for God. On Tuesdays we have a time set aside to help students grow in their musical skills by practicing songs that we use in youth group gatherings and in church services.
Praise Band Development meets on Tuesdays 4:30-6pm. This is open to all students who have musical abilities and want to learn how to play in a band that sings praise to God.
LIFE ON LIFE
Every so often we plan special youth nights called Adventurates. These nights have two purposes: build relationships and bring the Bible to life. We will break up into small groups on these nights, and our leaders will lead in a variety of ways. Some nights might include: hiking, prayer walks, a meal, baking cookies, visiting a farm, and more. These are highly relational and experiential nights.
Every year both our Middle & High School students participate in a district youth retreat called Lake Champion. This event has been life changing for many people in our church family throughout the years as well. We have seen students’ lives change in significant and dramatic ways in every area of life.
Rather than 'take the summer' off, we intentional ratchet up our engagement during the summer time. We do this by providing a camp for our surrounding communities. Students from both Middle & High School spend four weeks together learning to live like Jesus and ministering to their communities. Find out more on our Summer Ministry page.
Here are some videos of past youth ministry trips and our annual summer ministry. This will give you a little more of an idea of how we seek to invest in the spiritual lives of students
