I shared with you about the impact of the earthquake on C&MA churches in Haiti. The Metro District has set up a fund through the district office to assist with the relief efforts from the earthquake, as our C&MA churches in Haiti seek to provide food and shelter for those who are now homeless and begin the efforts to rebuild the churches that have suffered damage and the school that has been destroyed. This sort of partnership with churches in other parts of the world is not new. You can trace it all the way back to the NT church. In 1 Corinthians 16:1-4, 2 Corinthians 8:1-9; 15 and Romans 15:14-32, Paul is writing to the churches on his missionary journey about collecting funds to bring back to the poor in Jerusalem as a famine was beginning. May what Paul said of the churches in Macedonia also be true of us. They considered it a "favor" that they were able to participate in loving and serving the church at Jerusalem.
