Going Out and Coming In

Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. (Deuteronomy 28:6)

Tonight one year is going out and one year is coming in. In these kinds of transitions, you need to be reminded of things God has called you to — things that remain though your life is changing. There is a calling on your life that must be stewarded . There are things you must celebrate and grieve; there are people and places you must say good bye to; there are memorial stones you are to take with you into the next season of your life. There are aspects of your life and ministry which must be affirmed; at the same time there are patterns and choices that have not been so healthy. Those patterns must be named and NOT affirmed.

I want to encourage you over the next few days to find some time to be alone and prayerfully think back over the year. What ways did God help you in 2014? Celebrate with others what God did. By looking back over this last year, you may be able to see what activities produced hope, encouragement, and growth in your life. How can you give time and space to those activities in the future? Talk this over with others.

Happy New Year!
